Don't you LOVE low-maintenance friendships?
I do! I am a no-drama, low maintenance relationship girl. I'm drawn to people who are expectation-free, and absolutely cherish that we can pick up where we left off at any time.
Isn't it great to have those relationships? You can go weeks, or even months, without talking to them, and it doesn't change the dynamic or get "weird" in any way. You respect and honor that you each have busy lives, and will catch up when there's time.
But, the truth is - you MAKE time for the things that are important to you. While these friendships are great, sometimes we take them for grantedBECAUSE they are so easy.
This past weekend, I helped not one, but TWO of my friends move/relocate. One was my roommate moving back to Colorado, and one was my friend moving back to New Hampshire. Both of them were easy, low-maintenance friendships.
After the dust settled from the packing, running around, and trips to the airport, I found myself sad. I reflected on how much I cherished them in my life, and wished I would have made a greater effort while they were still here. But I didn't, and they are gone.
*cue 'AH-HA' moment*
It's sounds cliche, but the saying is so true "You don't know what you've got until it's gone."
I encourage you to take some time this week to acknowledge, honor, and reach out to the "easy friendships" in your life. Send them a text or Facebook message, or, even better - hang out! Because they are so easy-going, this small gesture will go a LONGGGG way, trust me!
Don't wait until it's too late to appreciate them.
Until next week, enjoy those conversations with the awesome people in your life!!! :)
P.S. - Please share this with someone you think would benefit. Also, I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to share your feedback!
