A Needful Reminder...

Easy said than done, right?

It's easy to be hurt, mad, upset, pissed off, or a variety of negative emotions when someone says something to hurt you. Especially those who do it intentionally. I had not one, but several instances this past week where people said something very hurtful to me. I was rightfully mad and upset, because I hadn't done anything to instigate the comments. It came from left field. Why would people want to take digs at me when I always try and be kind, and show love? The more I stewed over this, the more annoyed I got. I shamefully admit, I didn't keep it inward. I shared my hurt with my inner circle, and gossiped about the offenders. I wanted those closest to me to feel my pain, and cheer me on for being "right" in the way I felt. The problem is, I really don't like feeling mad, so took a few minutes to process my feelings. I was reminded of something my dad tells me - "Hurting people hurt people." I'm so thankful for that piece of wisdom. It's not only smart, but it's also a secret weapon! Think about it - when you can view someone who offended you from this perspective, it changes EVERYTHING. Most of the time, the offender's words are merely an outward expression of internal pain or conflict. Not to mention, misery love company!! When I took a step back, and viewed them as hurting people, my heart softened. I felt compassion, forgiveness, and gentleness well up within me. All of which suffocated the negative feelings of bitterness I was experiencing before. I took it a step further, and after repenting for my anger and gossip, was able pray for them. I asked God to shower them with peace, supernatural joy, and strength for whatever they were going through. How freeing of a feeling! Wow! After that simple prayer, I was able to let it go and move on with my life. It's amazing how bitterness can't stunt life progress! Don't let it hold you back! If you've been hurt recently, I challenge you to fully embody Agreement #2 - "Don't Take Things Personal." It has nothing to do with you. Forgive, love them and let go! That's the greatest gift you can give someone who is hurting. I promise, you will feel light as a feather if you take this route!!! Until next week, lighten your load by loving those who are hurting! If you are interested in having me speak to your group, please contact me! I'd love to chat! :) Feeling lighter, - Kimberly Faith P.S. - I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out!!!
